Edinburgh’s New Town has long been my favourite area within the capital; I lived here for many years and enjoyed the relaxed, traditional feel of it’s majestic streets and well-balanced geography.

Understandably, the house carries a great deal of history, with one story being of particular note. Kate Summerscale’s Mrs Robinson’s Disgrace is the true story of a woman who lived at 11 Moray Place in the 1850’s and relates the unusual story of Victorian divorce.
A compelling read, the book is available at the house for guests who stay long enough to complete the story, although with a plethora of interesting activities, literally on the doorstep, I doubt there are many.
Private gardens, to which guests have access, museums, art galleries, beautiful walks and unique shops, all within walking distance, offer endless pleasure, without even mentioning the landmarks for which Edinburgh is so well known, such as the magnificent Castle and Holyrood Palace.
