Isobel Yule has taken her wedding car service and gone quite a few steps further, growing her business and attracting attention from all corners of the globe, welcoming, enthusiasts to Bygone Drives.
Passionate about her collection of classic cars, amongst them, a 1952 Bentley R-Type, a Bentley S2 and a Daimler V8; stunning vehicles and lovingly cared for, Isobel literally strives to ensure all of her clients enjoy the most perfect experience, and leave, as passionate about Bygone Drives, as she, so obviously is.
Of course, being based in one of the most naturally beautiful parts of the country helps, as The Cairngorms National Park offers the backdrop, for Bygone Drives, currently based from Isobel’s home; Bydand Bed and Breakfast on the fringes of Grantown-on-Spey.
Having a collection of world-renowned whisky distilleries on your doorstep, additionally presents a perfect opportunity for traditional and informative tours and tastings, and Isobel has capitalised on this facility, forming partnerships with Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and Balvenie, to name but a few; offering guests the opportunity to travel in style and luxury, to enjoy their favoured dram.
Managing the growing business from her home, Isobel has also ventured past the traditional whisky tours and creates tailor-made packages for her guests, dependent on their likes, wishes and of course, the length of time each has, to luxuriate in Bygone’s 5 star experience. Maximising on Scotland’s star attractions, typical bespoke tours include castles, places of historical interest, great vantage points and a luxury steam train, courtesy of Speyside Steam Railway; sometimes, a mixture of all, with Isobel going to considerable efforts to ensure her guests’ trip is perfect in every way.
The Bygone chauffeurs are equally as accommodating, regularly taking detours to include clients’ wishes, with Skye being high on the wish list of many of their travellers, who hail, from around the world.
Isobel spends considerable time sourcing special little extras for her tours, never tiring and having that passionate enthusiasm for procuring luxury Scottish items for gifts and mementos. The Bygone hampers, I am sure, must be legendary, and deserve their own mention. Isobel pops one in the boot of each Classic Car Tour, in order that guests can enjoy a champagne lunch or indulgent coffee stop with both luxuriant and practical tartan travel blankets aplenty!
Sitting in the leather comfort of the classic 1952 R-Type Bentley, champagne in hand, I was transported, for that moment, back in time; the breath-taking Scottish scenery rolling past the window affirming my reverie, as her unchanging hills and glens have no doubt, impressed many from this same seat.
The Bygone Drives experience is such that I want to stand atop those hills and broadcast to the world, however, fabulous word-of-mouth reports are travelling globally and reaching those hunting out that something different to make their trip to Scotland, not only very special but having the power to create a memorable and lasting impression.
