A surprisingly good forecast for mid-autumn in Scotland, coupled with the need to escape for the weekend; no hassle, minimum people, fabulous views, loch side location, calm relaxation = Loch Ness Highland Lodges.
Decision made and following a quick phone call, we were on our way north.
Sitting on the deck that same afternoon, the stresses of the early morning, already forgotten and mental note made to “do this more often”.
Pure relaxation ensued, the most strenuous task involved a few steps to the water’s edge to feed the curious swans and a short stroll later in the evening to enjoy dinner in the restaurant.
The lodges are far from basic, in fact compare very favourably to any luxurious apartment, offering everything you would require and more – the hot tub was a welcome site at the end of our journey and the perfect wind-down, sitting, literally on our own private portion of loch-side beach.
Two, or was it three days later and maxed out on stress-free leisure time, we were, once again, ready to face the reality of everyday life, revived and reinvigorated.
