The sombreros had another airing at the weekend for a return visit to central Scotland’s answer to a Mexican Fiesta. I was delighted to see another Pinto opening in Edinburgh, following their launch in Scotland’s capital at Lothian Road.
Shandwick Place opened some months ago and, in the heart of the West End, literally, a short Jarabe Tapatío (look it up!) from Princes Street, a joy to reach.
Now on their fifth Mexican kitchen, Pinto is slowly expanding across central Scotland, having three well-established venues in Glasgow. Known for their passion for offering fresh Mexican street food, everything on the menu is undeniably tasty and extremely filling – unsurprising when presented with an array of hard to refuse additions for your burrito, nachos and tacos.
Shandwick Place however has been experimenting with a new Mexican soup, which I was happy to sample on my lunchtime visit, thanks to the extremely persuasive (and lovely) Manageress (not that much persuading was required). Spicy chicken, lots of spice and lots of cheese – an extremely unusual but hugely enjoyable tasty soup and a great, satisfying option for a lunch break – ask them about it and don’t forget the spoon, even for take out – this is not a sippy soup for the faint-hearted!
Common across all Pinto’s are the special offers, daily meal deals and now a fabulous Pinto delivery service, making Pinto accessible for everyone across town. Their Mexican beer deals and margaritas turn the day into night and with special events and parties, it is worth keeping an eye on the website for your next excuse to visit this fun, relaxed venue.
If you haven’t visited a Pinto yet….what are you waiting for? Study the menu online, go armed with your requirements and the enthusiastic team at Pinto shall do the rest…say “Hola” to Mexican street food at Pinto.
