Must Visit Scotland is delighted to announce the launch of a Travel column within The Scotsman newspaper’s digital platform; Scotsman.com
The Scottish based blog site which promotes Scottish Tourism businesses, has been experiencing rapid growth in recent months, largely due to attracting an extensive worldwide following via social media platforms, in particular Twitter.
@mvscotland on twitter draws a multinational following through the main website: www.mustvisitscotland.co.uk, where, positive experiences of carefully selected, lesser known Scottish tourism businesses receive promotion in the form of a first-hand experience review by the author.
Participation within various social media forums has additionally widened the spread of followers who now take a daily interest in the articles which appear within the site.
Now, with daily hits at a record high and a long and growing waitlist of hotels, restaurants, visitor attractions and services, requesting a review visit, Must Visit Scotland has grown beyond all expectations within a comparatively short time frame.
“The ethos is simple”, explains Must Visit’s owner Lisa Wilson; “we promote lesser known gems within Scotland, whether their strengths lie in exceptional service, unique product or a fabulous experience; bringing each to the fore and promoting them, free of any monetary charge, to our extensive audience from around the globe.”
Lisa receives numerous enquiries each day from potential visitors to Scotland and those, already here, whom she refers to the mobile friendly site, where they can read reviews by category or area and link direct to each website where contact and bookings are subsequently made.
Revenue is generated via select advertising within the Must Visit Scotland website; “I was eager to retain the look of the site, keeping the focus on reviews and featured products and not cluttering the pages with unrelated adverts”, explains Lisa; “resulting in “The Scotland List” a portal, created specifically for advertising, connected to Must Visit Scotland, where businesses can advertise their product, linking back to their own webpage, from as little as £52 per year.”
This, more commercial outlook, has been adopted to create revenue and as a direct result of demand by businesses wishing to further promote their product via Must Visit Scotland, due to the site’s popularity and high level of daily visitors.
This collaboration with The Scotsman via a dedicated Travel section on Scotsman.com is the most recent progression for Must Visit Scotland and one which is set to see the site grow and develop even further. Lisa is unsurprisingly delighted with the approach from The Scotsman’s digital editor, Stephen Emerson; “Having been an avid reader of Scotland’s National paper for many years, witnessing the spread to digital and delighted to see the recent changes at the recent re-launch of Scotsman.com, I am thrilled to be asked to contribute to writings within the site from Must Visit Scotland. Having kept Must Visit Scotland as my baby for so many years, I understand that now to move forward commercially and take MVS to the next step, an association with a publication such as The Scotsman is truly invaluable.”
