Part of the Roxburghe Estate, sitting in the heart of the Borders countryside, the Roxburghe Hotel, rises splendidly from impressive grounds – a stunning piece of architecture, dating from the 12th century.
The Duke of Roxburghe has marked his territory with unique additions akin to a stately home and added personal touches, such as his own wine cellar and pieces from a personal art collection to make the Roxburghe a unique and very luxurious home from home.
The Health and Beauty Suite is homed in the old stables, with a welcoming courtyard and views of the open countryside beyond. A perfect retreat and unique departure from the traditions of the main hotel building, the Spa presents a light, bright modern space offering a surprisingly wide range of familiar treatments along with unique experiences, exclusive to The Roxburghe.
Welcoming and informal, therapists are adept at putting clients at ease and a distinct sense of calm greets those seeking out some pampering in this beautiful location.
A pleasantly calming, yet invigorating aromatic steam and shower preceded my massage and an hour of eradicating tension worked splendidly with nothing more than singing birds as a chorale backdrop.
The unique beauty of the Spa at the Roxburghe is undoubtedly it’s size – small, intimate, yet offering a wealth of treatments and ready advice within a friendly yet professional environment.
Decleor products add to the experience; effective remedies for any skin type and a wonderfully transforming moisturizer, which requires special mention!
One of a selection of unique treatments was the prescriptive manicure which analyses and treats each nail type individually, remedying any issues with a Jessica pre-coat and extensive choice of fabulous colours.
The Roxburghe Spa is worth the journey along the beautiful Borders country roads and with the added benefit of the gorgeous hotel, to hand, makes for a relaxed, luxurious and very beautiful trip. Thanks Jodie!
